FATHER’S DAY SPECIAL: CLEAN HEALTH DADS SPOTLIGHT
To celebrate Father’s Day, we wanted to shine the spotlight on two of our incredible Clean Health Dads who, outside of work, are dedicated fathers to their beautiful children.
We spent a few minutes with each, to find out how they balance being a dad while staying active and healthy.
Daine McDonald – Father of 6 & Clean Health Founder & Managing Director
1. What is your favorite part about being a dad?
Knowing that you have the ability to help shape, nurture and grow your loved ones and give them the guidance they need to become the best versions of themselves that they can be is one of the highlights of my life.
2. What is your favorite way to be active with your kids?
It all depends on their age, I have 6 ranging from 10 weeks old to just turned 13, so how you interact is going to be very different. Generally speaking, as a family activity we like heading down to the beach or more recently going for ‘group’ walks to get our collective ‘steps’ in works well.
3. How do you keep fit and healthy with your busy lifestyle?
The early bird catches the worm. I am up most days between 4:30 am-5:30 am and I start my day with a 15-60 minute meditation depending on how I slept and/or how I am feeling mentally. My weekly workout routine involves a combination of weights, Pilates, cardio and overall just being outdoors whether that’s at the beach or getting my 10,000+ steps in for the day.
4. Why is health and fitness important for you and your family?
These days my priority is not so much about being strong or looking good, but it is all about wellness. Pre-dad you have different priorities, post children it is all about being a role model, with the ability to be energetic and active with your kids.

1. What is your favorite part about being a dad?
My favorite part is definitely making the little one laugh and being there through the milestones!
2. What is your favorite way to be active with your kids?
He’s only 9 months so we are limited at the moment (haha), but myself and my wife like going for walks (with our son in the pram) on the weekends. He just sits there in his pram and takes in all the scenery.
3. How do you keep fit and healthy with your busy lifestyle?
I like to keep my sessions short (30mins) yet effective. I personally do a 30 min session at the local park (Mon-Fri only) which consists of a mix of running and bodyweight exercises. The fact that I don’t have to travel anywhere saves time and the fact that it’s only 30 minutes saves even more time! I use it as a refresh from work during the middle of the day.
4. Why is health and fitness important for you and your family?
Since having a baby, health and fitness has become more important for myself and my family. For three main reasons:
1) You want to be a good role model
2) You want to be able to enjoy a long, healthy life with your kid(s)
3) You want to be able to keep up with your kids once you get older and have fun with them!
Wishing a Happy Father’s Day to our dedicated Clean Health Dads and all of the amazing fathers out there!
